The website itself collects nothing
Reading this site is private. There are no cookies, no analytics, no advertising trackers, and no third party fonts. The typefaces are served from this site rather than from an outside company, so nobody learns that you were here just because you visited.
The only records are the ordinary ones our web host keeps of any request, described further down.
That is true of every page here, including this one. Opening an application form or a shadchan’s calendar is what reaches outside this site.
The forms are a different matter
Everything Nivneh actually collects comes from something you fill in on purpose: Partner Advocate Application, Request a Partner Advocate, Committee Application, Shabbos Host Sign-Up, Shadchan Sign-Up or Dating Coach Sign-Up, or an appointment booking. Each of them tells you what it is asking for as you fill it in.
Nothing is taken from you in the background, and no information is bought or brought in from anywhere else.
What opening a form loads
The forms are run for us by SmartSuite. Nothing reaches SmartSuite until you open one. When you do, it brings its own software with it, and some of that comes from other companies:
- SmartSuite serves the form and receives your answers.
- Google supplies the address lookup that some fields use.
- Sentry reports faults in SmartSuite’s own software back to SmartSuite.
- Adobe serves the typefaces the form is set in.
Each of those can tell that a form was opened and can see the internet address you are connecting from. None of them were put there by Nivneh and none of them are used to advertise to you. They come as part of SmartSuite.
The form saves your answers as you go, in the browser you are using, so you can come back and finish it. On a shared computer, finish it or clear it.
If you would rather not open the form here at all, email office@projectnivneh.org and a person will take your details.
Filling in a form about someone else
This is the part most privacy pages do not have to cover, and it is the most important part of this one.
A request to be paired with a Partner Advocate may be submitted by the single herself, or by a parent, a family member or a friend on her behalf. That means it is possible to send us detailed information about a person who did not type it in herself.
If you are filling in a form about someone else
- Please ask her first. Someone should not find out that she has been put forward by hearing it from a third party.
- Send what is needed to help her, not everything you know.
- If she asks us to remove it later, we will remove it, whoever sent it in.
If you name somebody else on a form
Most of the forms ask for a reference: their name, their cell number, their email, and how they know you. The Shabbos host form also asks for your Rav’s name and phone number, and the request form asks for a Partner Advocate’s details if you want to name one. Nivneh may contact those people. Anything held about them can be removed on request, the same as anything else on this page.
Who sees a single’s information
Being advocated for means being spoken about, on purpose, to the right people. That is the point of the initiative, and you should know exactly what it involves before you apply:
- The Nivneh team, who read the application and handle the pairing.
- Her Partner Advocate, who receives what she needs in order to advocate.
- Her advocate’s team. Advocates are placed on teams of about ten with an experienced team leader, and those teams collaborate and network together. Her details may be discussed within that team.
- Shadchanim and other appropriate contacts, when her advocate presents her, directly or through organized networking support.
- A committee, where she is being helped by one. The Resume Committee sees a resume, the Picture Committee sees photographs, and so on.
- A shadchan or dating coach she books an appointment with, who receives what is entered on the booking, including a resume and a photograph where the booking requires them.
- SimplyBook, which runs the appointment system and holds the booking.
If there is something you would rather was not passed on, tell the team and it will be respected.
Partner Advocates are screened
Anyone applying to be a Partner Advocate is screened by a Nivneh team member before being approved. That is deliberate, because approved advocates are trusted with other people’s information.
What Nivneh does not do
- Your information is never sold, rented or traded. Not to anyone, not for any reason.
- There is no marketing list, and nothing is sent to you for promotion. If you take part, the committees supporting you may be in touch about things relevant to you, such as an event the Resource committee is letting singles know about.
- Nothing is used for advertising, and nothing on this site is built to follow you anywhere else.
- A single’s details are not circulated publicly, posted, or published on this website.
Outside services this site uses
These are the only outside companies involved in running the site as it stands today. Each one has its own privacy policy.
- Vercel hosts the website. Like any web host it keeps ordinary server records of requests, which include the address your internet connection is using and which page was asked for.
- SmartSuite runs the application forms and stores the answers. It is where the Nivneh team reads and manages applications. A form is only loaded when you press the button to open it.
- Google supplies the address lookup that some form fields use. It is part of SmartSuite’s form, not something Nivneh added.
- Sentry is the fault reporting service SmartSuite uses to find problems in its own software.
- Adobe serves the typefaces the SmartSuite form is set in. The typefaces on the rest of this site are served from this site itself.
- SimplyBook.me runs the shadchan appointment calendar, and holds your booking details when you book. Like the forms, the calendar is only loaded when you press the button to open it.
- Metricool is the visitor measurement service SimplyBook uses on its own booking pages. Opening the calendar contacts it. It is part of SimplyBook, not something Nivneh added.
- Google also serves part of the calendar’s own code. As above, that is SimplyBook’s doing rather than Nivneh’s.
How long it is kept, and how to have it removed
Applications are kept for as long as someone is taking part, and for a reasonable time afterwards so that a pairing can be picked up again if someone comes back. Nivneh is a volunteer initiative rather than a company with a records department, so the honest answer is that it is kept while it is useful and removed when you ask.
To see what is held about you, correct it, or have it removed, contact office@projectnivneh.org. Ask for it in plain words. You do not need a form or a reason.
Everyone here is an adult
Singles taking part are at least one year post seminary or two years post high school, and Partner Advocates are adults. This site is not directed at children and Nivneh does not knowingly collect information about them.
Changes to this page
If how any of this works changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. If something significant changes for people already taking part, they will be told rather than left to find it here.
