What actually happens
A single should not have to
advocate for herself.
It is easier to ask on behalf of someone else than to ask for yourself. That is the whole idea. Every single is paired with a Partner Advocate, someone who already cares about her: an aunt, a cousin, a neighbor, a close friend.
The advocate networks on her behalf and guides her as an outside party rather than as a mother or a sister. She makes sure the single is presented in the best possible light, to the right people, at the right time.
And the advocate is not left to work it out alone. Nivneh groups advocates into teams of about ten with an experienced team leader, with eleven specialist committees ready to support those teams.
Project Nivneh
Screens every partner, makes the pairing, groups partners into teams of about ten, and supports them step-by-step through the whole process.

Where this comes from
We have built
together before.
Project Nivneh was founded as a volunteer organization helping members of the Jewish community rebuild after crisis. After Hurricane Sandy, volunteers, called partners, worked with families to rebuild, with committees standing behind them.
Partners in Shidduchim is the next phase, built on the same structure and, in many cases, by the same people. The care that once helped rebuild homes is now turned toward building batim.
